Four Men Were Bragging About How Smart Their Dogs Are?

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Four men were bragging about how smart their dogs are. The first man was an
Engineer, the second man was an Accountant, the third man was a Chemist, and the
fourth was a Government Worker.
To show off, the Engineer called to his dog.
“T-Square, do your stuff.”
T- Square trotted over to a desk, took out some paper and a pen and promptly
drew a circle, a square and a triangle.
Everyone agreed that was pretty smart. But the Accountant said his dog could
do better.
He called his dog and said, “Slide Rule, do your stuff.”
Slide Rule went out into the kitchen and returned with a dozen cookies. He
divided them into 4 equal piles of 3 cookies each.
Everyone agreed that was good. But the Chemist said his dog could do better.
He called his dog and said, “Measure, do your stuff.”
Measure got up, walked over to the fridge, took out a quart of milk, got a 10
ounce glass from the cupboard and poured exactly 8 ounces without spilling a
drop.
Everyone agreed that was good.
Then the three men turned to the Government Worker and said, “What can your
dog do?”
The Government Worker called to his dog and said, “Coffee Break, do your
stuff.”
Coffee Break jumped to his feet, ate the cookies, drank the milk,
dumped on the paper, sexually assaulted the other three dogs, claimed he injured
his back while doing so, filed a grievance report for unsafe working conditions,
put in for Worker’s Compensation and went home on sick leave.

The fur u see on the hoods of coats, and collars of sweaters, and stuffed animals is from dogs. if they kill the dog humanely, their fur shrivels and is no good. and it is cheaper for them to just let them die. they just pile them up, 1 after the other. please dont buy anything with fur. please tell everyone u know and pass that web site around. Paul McCartney is even involved, i hope you will too.

Which Dog Breeds Are Protective Of Their Masters?

Monday, February 15th, 2010

I’ve been thinking and picking out of a list of dog breeds which would suit me the best, and a few came up. The one that I’m really leaning towards is the German shepherd. (I’ve been doing research on these dogs, and I’m not a first time dog owner. I do have experience with large dogs and GSDs )
Recently, with me living in an apartment in the city (yes, my apartment is large and i have a fenced in yard.) I’ve been getting harassed by men around the neighborhood. I tried calling police but they couldn’t do anything because the men never touched me or threatened me but i feel like its not going to get any better. I dont want to take the risk, I cant go outside alone anymore, I cant even go to the store 2 blocks away for me without calling my boyfriend to take me there. Even when hes there, guys stare me down. He’s confronted them a few times and they stopped but I’d really like to go out by myself.
ANYWAYS
I’ve been looking for a dog for a while now, and I’ve been thinking that I could train my new dog as not only a companion, but a guard dog too.
I’m just wondering which dog breed would be best for this, like, if anyone came too close he or she would growl and if it REALLY got that bad, attack if commanded it to.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not only getting a dog for protection, but a companion and friend, but I just hope that it would be nice for it to have that natural protective quality too. Sorry this is so long! thanks for reading!

Why Do People Give Their Dogs Cutsey Names?

Seriously you’re going to give your dog a complex. Give it a name that won’t embarrass it before the neighbourhood.

What’s A List Of Animals That Are Capable Of “knowing” And Responding To Their Names? E.g., A Dog. ?

Friday, January 29th, 2010

You know, Erin makes a good point. Most animals that can hear and have capacity to learn (which is most) can learn to come when they hear their “name”. But they wouldn’t neccessarily “know” that the word is their name. To them it would just mean “Hey, that means I get a treat!”
So the question “what animals *know* their names” is an interesting and debatable one!
I’d think that dogs, horses, parrots, and corvids (crows), and most apes can actually understand the the difference between their name and any other command, because those animals can learn the meanings behind multiple words. (I actually met a horse who knew “canter, trot, walk, and stop” in 3 languages!).
On the other hand, the horse and dog still might only think of their name as being a “Pay attention” command. Crows, parrots, and apes I suspect could understand the exact meaning of what a name is, because they have higher logical brain functions…. Maybe dolphins too…. and probably elephants (They can recognize each other by voice, so they might understand the concept of naming)

What Toy Breed Dog Would Be Good To Get For A Beginner Dog Owner Who Is Afraid Of Dogs And Their Bark?

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

I get scared when larger breed dogs growl or bark.
I got attacked by a corgi before and certain breeds make me nervous, but the breeds that I like are : Maltese, poodles, schnauzers, pugs and miniature mutts.
Also, due to a mild allergy, dogs with coarse hair like labs tend to make my skin itch. Yet, poodles and cavalier king Charles spaniels and those breeds mentioned above didn’t make me itch.
A dog would give me an excuse to walk around and not look weird, especially when I go too close to people w/dogs.

Why Do Police After Cuffing Their Suspects, Have To Give A Few More Kicks Or Punches?

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

Everytime I see on the news somebody getting chased on foot or talked into giving up over stealing a car. AFTER the Police have put the cuffs on they will either dog pile, punch or kick them. I could understand if they were trying to put the restraints on, & the suspect was resisting.
It doesn’t make sense to me that they would add the extra violence, when they are clearly out of harms way by then. It’s not like a murder had taken place. Don’t they realize they’re being filmed beating up a defenceless person?
