My 4-year-old dog and I are in a new apartment and she has decided the right side of my bed is a toilet. She was going there every time I left the house, and tonight she pooped there while I was in the other room.
She is 4 and though I only just adopted her 3 weeks ago, she was supposedly potty trained before and she hasn’t had an accident with me until this week.
I DO NOT want to put her in a crate every time I leave for the rest of her life. Some people have suggested that using a crate for the a week or two might do the trick as far as a potty-training refresher. Does this sound plausible?
I could leave her in a crate or in the bathroom while I’m gone; will doing this help get her to hold it?
Note: there were two nights in my previous apartment when I left her for 7 hours and she didn’t have an accident. NOW, in this apartment, I will run to the bank for 20 minutes and come home to a puddle and sometimes a pile. It’s driving me CRAZY!! I love to give her treats and Frosty Paws and toys and play with her, but I am less enthusiastic about giving her treats when I’m always coming home to a mess.
Help!!!!
